Two weeks ago we played our most important game of the season. The team prepared well to commence the game on a strong foot. We started the game strongly and had Bavaria pinned back inside their half for the majority of the first 20 minutes. Our defense was solid and our midfield, led by our Captain Dana, was in complete control. We started creating numerous chances down the right-wing with Emma Flower enjoying a very good game. Around the 10th minute, Louise Flower combined with Emma Wood played the ball into the D where Eva Silva converted from a short distance to make it 1-0. A great goal led by a great team play. Just before halftime, Bavaria Pinks found a chance to equalise. 1-1 & the whistle blew.
Half-time talk & Coach Zammit was happy with the team's performance so far. His advice was to be patient & continue working hard. The second half got underway and Bavaria who had to win to stand any chance of regaining the trophy they won last year came out stronger. Ashley, Gayle, Lorena, and Cara were fundamental at the back protecting our goal. Kayleigh continued working hard looking for a second goal upfront. Aroa was also instrumental in playing her third game in a row in goal In the 12th minute
Ashley combined with Louise who gave a through ball to Gabriella Gracia found herself alone with the keeper and very elegantly slotted the ball with a reverse push through the keeper's legs making it 2-1 for Europa. The team continued to press high with Bavaria equally having opportunities to exploit the middle of the park.
The final whistle blew & the team celebrated the 9-aside league title. A great achievement as the team continues to be unbeaten for 13 games in a row. All the players enjoyed a great team performance with Gabriella Gracia taking Women of the match!
Well done ladies & well-done coaches! Another piece of silverware under our team name!
